Smart Challenge
We run our five-week internship program every spring and summer in Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich and Brussels.
Insight, mentorship, and practical experience. At Freshfields, interns are part of our team from day one. You’ll see our lawyers in action and contribute to tasks ranging from negotiations and publications to drafting submissions and expert opinions. An experienced lawyer will guide you as your personal buddy. Additionally, Q&A sessions, lectures, and workshops provide a well-rounded and inspiring professional journey.
A varied social program gives you plenty of opportunities to exchange ideas with fellow interns and get to know the people who shape Freshfields' culture and success.
What to expect
You should be studying law (Rechtswissenschaften) and have successfully passed the intermediate examination (Zwischenprüfung), with an interest in gaining experience in a commercially focused law firm. Please apply here and we will contact you after reviewing your documents (cover letter, CV and relevant certificates from high school graduation onwards).

week long internship programEach intern is paired with a dedicated lawyer who serves as their buddy.
Involvement in negotiations and client meetings.
Conducting research on various legal matters.
Assisting with the preparation of publications.
Kick-off and closing event with all participants from Germany and Brussels.
Weekly events, including one in-person and one virtual event.
Opportunities for cross-location collaboration with fellow interns, referendars and our lawyers.
Engaging presentations and workshops on topics such as our pro bono initiatives and AI@Freshfields.

However, please note that this isn’t always possible, and we may offer you an internship in a different office. If we do, we’ll discuss this with you.
