Freshfields Advises Canada Pension Plan Investment Board on its Acquisition of ReNew Energy Global Plc

Freshfields is advising Canada Pension Plan Investment Board on its acquisition of ReNew Energy Global Plc, a NASDAQ-listed, leading India-focused decarbonization and clean energy company and one of the largest independent power producers globally. The acquisition will be implemented by way of a court-sanctioned scheme of arrangement under Part 26 of the UK Companies Act 2006, and values ReNew's fully diluted equity capital at approximately US$2.8bn, implying an enterprise value of approximately US$10.2bn. The acquisition was announced on August 11, 2026.
