Freshfields advises Ontario Teachers' on German residential real estate joint venture with DW Real Estate

Global law firm Freshfields is advising Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan Board on the establishment of a joint venture with DW Real Estate for investing in residential rental properties in Germany.

The joint venture's initial acquisition for the portfolio comprises approximately 300 residential units across four properties in southern Germany, acquired from Bayerische Versorgungskammer.

The transaction marks Ontario Teachers' first investment in the German residential property market.

The Freshfields team is being led by Partner Julia Haas (Real Estate/M&A, Frankfurt) together with Ontario Teachers' Relationship Partner Richard Johnson (Corporate/M&A, London), Principal Associates Iaroslava Arakelian (Real Estate/M&A), Daniel Roggenkemper (both Frankfurt) and Associate Kat Wade (London, both Corporate/M&A). Partner Tanja Walter-Yadegardjam is leading on tax matters together with Principal Associate Sebastian Jung (both Frankfurt).
