Global law firm Freshfields has advised Dutch Pension Fund ABP on its new strategic partnership with CBRE Investment Management to target newly built residential assets in the Netherlands, with a focus on affordability and sustainability. With an initial capital tranche of EUR 350 million, ABP and CBRE IM aim to grow a portfolio of mid-market rental housing across the Netherlands to EUR 1 billion within five years and deliver over c.3,000 units.
The Freshfields team was led by Harald Spruit and Bob van Kasteren and further included Emelde Rubaij Bouman and Stan Lemmen. The team also advised ABP last year on the establishment of the Dutch Essential Housing Venture, ABP’s development-led strategic venture in partnership with Greystar.
