Six years of the ERA Pledge

Jun 13 2022

The Equal Representation in Arbitration (ERA) Pledge has recently celebrated its 6th anniversary and the remarkable milestone of achieving more than 5,000 signatories from over 113 countries, including 963 organisations.

The ERA Pledge launched in 2016 with 300 signatories and one goal: to identify concrete action to address the underrepresentation of women on arbitral tribunals. The ERA Pledge now operates through the Global Steering Committee and growing network of Sub-Committees, including regional Sub-Committees covering all jurisdictions as well as the Corporate Sub-Committee and the Young Practitioners’ Sub-Committee.

Together, the Pledge community strives to ensure that: (i) women are appointed as arbitrators on an equal opportunity basis; and (ii) the profile of women in arbitration is improved more broadly. You can learn more about and sign the ERA Pledge on the ERA Pledge website and connect with the Arbitration Pledge on LinkedIn.

Watch Sylvia Noury QC, founder of the ERA Pledge, Co-Chair of the Global Steering Committee and London Head of International Arbitration at Freshfields, talking about her involvement in the ERA Pledge and what it means to her.
