About
Jiwoo is an associate in our Global Projects Disputes Practice, a member of our International Arbitration Group and global dispute resolution practice, and is based in Riyadh.
He advises contractors, developers and other project participants on both contentious and non-contentious matters arising out of their major capital projects in Saudi Arabia, the wider MENA region and beyond, and is experienced in various bespoke and industry standard form construction contracts, including FIDIC, JCT and NEC. His practice also includes advising international clients across a variety of sectors on procurement, contracting and disputes risks relevant to their transactions and projects in Saudi Arabia. He has also spent six months on a client secondment to Save the Children International, assisting with a broad range of commercial and construction issues related to its programming activities across the world.
Before joining our Riyadh office, Jiwoo served in the Republic of Korea Armed Forces as a Korean Augmentee to the U.S. Army, working as a military interpreter to the Command Sergeant Major, United Nations Command / Combined Forces Command / United States Forces Korea. He is a member of the Korea Defense Veterans Association.

- A major European conglomerate in relation to EPC and MSA arrangements for a key rail infrastructure project in Saudi Arabia.
- A leading Saudi contractor in relation to EPC arrangements for the construction of a data centre in Saudi Arabia.
- An international joint venture on a number of issues arising out of the operation and maintenance of the Riyadh Metro.
- A European energy company, acting as a utilities contractor for a major residential development project in Riyadh, on disputed issues of delay, disruption and payment.
- An Italian artistic foundation on its contractual arrangements with a newly-established Saudi university to create a masterclass programme focused on the performing arts.
- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of a GCC state on best-practice EPC contractual arrangements between employers, contractors and subcontractors on complex capital projects.
- Salik P.J.S.C., the exclusive operator of Dubai’s road toll gates, on the renewal of its contract with TransCore for the operation and maintenance of Dubai's toll gates, involving advising on comprehensive O&M and construction scopes.
- A global pharmaceutical company on the construction of a vaccine research facility in the UK.
- An international Chinese energy company on the construction of a Waste-to-Energy power plant in Male, Maldives.
- Save the Children International on the construction of medical warehouses in Nepal.
- A multinational energy company on a number of disputed issues surrounding the installation of wind turbines across the Dogger Bank Wind Farm, the largest offshore wind farm in the world.
