About
Jiwoo is an associate in our Global Projects Disputes Practice, a member of our International Arbitration Group and global dispute resolution practice, and is based in Riyadh.
He advises contractors, developers and other project participants on both contentious and non-contentious matters arising out of their major capital projects in Saudi Arabia, the wider MENA region and beyond, and is experienced in various bespoke and industry standard form construction contracts, including FIDIC, JCT and NEC. His practice also includes advising international clients on procurement, contracting and disputes risks relevant to their transactions and projects in Saudi Arabia. He has also spent six months on a client secondment to Save the Children International, assisting with a broad range of commercial and construction issues related to its programming activities across the world.
Before joining our Riyadh office, Jiwoo served in the Republic of Korea Armed Forces as a Korean Augmentee to the U.S. Army, working as a military interpreter to the Command Sergeant Major, United Nations Command / Combined Forces Command / United States Forces Korea.
Jiwoo graduated from the University of Cambridge with a Master of Arts degree in Classics. He obtained a Graduate Diploma in Law and completed the Legal Practice Course at BPP University. He trained and qualified with Freshfields and has worked in our London and Dubai offices.

- A major conglomerate in relation to EPC and MSA arrangements for a key rail infrastructure project in Saudi Arabia.
- A leading Saudi contractor in relation to EPC arrangements for the construction of a data centre in Saudi Arabia.
- A global pharmaceutical company on the construction of a vaccine research facility in the UK.
- An international Chinese energy company on the construction of a Waste-to-Energy power plant in Male, Maldives.
- Save the Children International on the construction of medical warehouses in Nepal.
- A multinational energy company on a number of disputed issues surrounding the installation of wind turbines across the Dogger Bank Wind Farm, the largest offshore wind farm in the world.
- A subsidiary of a global aerospace and defence company on an application to set aside a default judgment in the English High Court.
