Nils is a disputes counsel in our Berlin office.
Nils is a Counsel in Freshfields’ Dispute Resolution practice in Berlin. He advises clients on complex commercial disputes, mass claims, product liability matters, consumer-facing litigation – including injunctive actions brought by consumer protection associations – and cross-border litigation, with a particular focus on the automotive and technology sector. He is a member of the firm’s Class and Collective Action Skills Group and Product Risk Group.
Nils has extensive experience in high-profile customer and product-related litigation. His work includes coordinating large-scale mass claim defence projects involving tens of thousands of individual claims across multiple jurisdictions, including litigation strategy, project governance, resource allocation and stakeholder communication. He regularly works with international teams and local counsel, including on class action strategy and the coordination of consistent legal positions across jurisdictions.
He has represented clients in more than 200 hearings before German courts of first and second instance. He also has particular experience in evidence-gathering proceedings involving complex technical systems, translating technical issues into clear submissions that are accessible to courts.
In addition to mass litigation and consumer litigation, Nils-Johannes advises on arbitration and joint venture disputes, product liability matters and supply-chain disputes.
