Sunil is an Associate in our dispute resolution practice in London.
Sunil has a broad practice and advises clients on a range of matters, including commercial litigation matters, contentious restructuring and insolvency matters, and contentious data privacy and cybersecurity matters.
Commercial litigation: Sunil has experience advising clients on a wide range of complex, large-scale disputes, both domestically and cross-border. He was part of the Freshfields team that won Commercial Litigation Team of the Year at the Legal Business Awards 2021 for the successful representation of WEX Inc. in a claim concerning a US$1.7bn corporate acquisition and the enforcement of a material adverse effect clause following the COVID-19 pandemic (Travelport Ltd v Wex Inc [2020] EWHC 2670 (Comm)). He was also involved in the leading case concerning challenges to the jurisdiction of the English Court in respect of claims relying on CPR 6.33(2B)(b) (Pantheon International Advisors Limited v Co-Diagnostics, Inc. [2023] EWHC 1984 (KB)).
Contentious restructuring and insolvency: Sunil has been involved in many of the leading contentious Part 26A Restructuring Plan / Part 26 Scheme of Arrangement cases (e.g., Re. Thames Water Utilities Holdings Limited [2025] EWHC 338 (Ch), Re. Project Lietzenburger Strabe Holdco SARL [2024] EWHC 468 (Ch) (Aggregate), and Re People's Energy (Supply) Limited [2024] EWHC 1367 (Ch)).
Contentious data privacy and cybersecurity: Sunil also has experience advising clients on complex data privacy / cybersecurity matters, including cyber attacks, data breaches, ransomware attacks, state-sponsored attacks and follow-on data privacy / cybersecurity litigation and regulatory investigations. He has advised global FTSE 100 companies on the legal and regulatory regimes in the UK relating to responding to ransomware attacks and paying ransoms in the context of ransomware attacks.
During his time at Freshfields, Sunil has also spent time on secondment to our New York office.

Acting in a landmark dispute in the English Commercial Court advising WEX Inc on the defence of litigation which concerned whether the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic were a material adverse effect entitling it not to proceed with a US$1.7bn acquisition of two e-payment companies (Travelport Ltd v Wex Inc [2020] EWHC 2670 (Comm)).
