Lukas is a Principal Associate in our dispute resolution practice.
Lukas advises and represents domestic and international clients in high-profile litigation, arbitration and out-of-court disputes. He has significant experience in the financial institutions sector as well as in post-M&A and shareholder disputes, combined with a strong international background. Lukas also works with clients across all industries to anticipate, manage and mitigate litigation risk arising from large-scale compliance and commercial projects.
He is a member of our Financial Institutions Disputes, International Arbitration and Mass Claims groups. From April to December 2020, Lukas was seconded to Airbus in Toulouse.
He speaks German, English, French and Spanish.
Financial Services Litigation
- Advising a leading German multinational investment bank and financial services provider in relation to a successful settlement of a former employee's claim worth more than EUR 100 million.
- Advising a major European ManCo and fund services provider on its defence against potential investor claims across multiple Alternative Investment Funds.
- Representing a major German bank in litigation against multiple counterparties in connection with negative interest rate provisions.
- Representing a German investment bank in court proceedings relating to a syndicated loan facility in excess of EUR 1 billion.
- Acting for global investment banks in litigation involving OTC derivatives.
- Advising a major German financial institution on follow-on litigation connected to an ICC post-M&A arbitration.
- Advising financial institutions on out-of-court disputes concerning various financial instruments, including bonds, loans, repos, derivatives, and related civil claims.
Arbitration and Mediation
- Representing a European aerospace company in ICC arbitrations concerning long-term supply agreements under German, English, and French law.
- Acting for a major German chemical company in an ICC arbitration arising from a shareholders’ agreement.
- Advising a listed German chemical company in construction disputes and contractor negotiations.
- Advising a European bank in ICC arbitration proceedings arising out of an M&A transaction.
- Representing energy companies in DIS arbitrations related to construction and procurement contracts.
- Mediation of a shareholder dispute over a share exchange payout under a shareholders’ agreement.
Compliance, Regulatory and Mass Claims
- Advising a designated Gatekeeper on Digital Markets Act (DMA) compliance and mitigation of connected litigation risks.
- Coordinating global defence strategy and representing major automotive manufacturers in worldwide mass claims.
- Investigation for the German Football Association into the 2006 FIFA World Cup bidding process.
