About
Ortal is a law clerk in Freshfields’ dispute resolution practice based in New York.
Before joining Freshfields, she worked on behalf of individuals facing the death penalty in Berkeley’s Death Penalty Clinic and was a clinical student in Berkeley’s International Human Rights Law Clinic. She was also a legal fellow at the Sissy Farenthold Fund Reproductive Justice Defense Project at the University of Texas School of Law. Prior to law school, she spent several years working at a small criminal defense firm in Manhattan.
Ortal received her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law where she was a Notes Editor for the California Law Review and served on the Editorial Board of the Berkeley Journal of International Law. She holds a Master of Laws in European and Global Law from Universitat Pompeu Fabra.
