Emily is a senior associate in our securities and shareholder litigation practice based in New York. Emily's practice encompasses the full spectrum of securities litigation, government and internal investigations, and appellate litigation.
Before joining Freshfields, Emily was an associate in the litigation group at an international law firm. Prior to that, she served as an Assistant Law Clerk to the Honorable Madeline Singas at the New York Court of Appeals, where she drafted bench memoranda and judicial opinions on complex civil and criminal appeals to New York State's highest court.
Emily has co-authored practice notes for Practical Law on challenging standing in securities class actions and internal investigations witness interview strategy. She is an active member of the Women in Securities Litigation Network, where she serves on the Associates Committee.
- Representation of a German insurance company and its U.S. subsidiary in an action alleging securities fraud by a putative class of ADR holders, resulting in a dismissal with prejudice which was affirmed on appeal;*
- Representation of an independent director of a Chinese transportation company in a securities fraud class action arising from the company’s IPO, resulting in a favorable settlement;*
- Representation of an electric distribution company in a securities class action arising from bribery allegations related to the passage of Ohio House Bill 6.*
