Natalia Gómez is a litigation partner based in our Madrid office, where she co-heads the Madrid litigation department and co-leads Freshfields' global mass claim group. Her practice focuses on consumer litigation, product liability, antitrust litigation and class and collective actions, including claims with a strong ESG dimension.
Natalia regularly advises and represents leading pharmaceutical, energy, industrial and technology companies on complex, high-profile disputes.
She is a highly experienced litigation counsel and has advocated before a wide range of courts and tribunals, including the Court of Justice of the European Union and the Spanish Supreme Court.
Natalia frequently acts as a panelist in antitrust private application and collective redress in seminars and congresses and is a lecturer at her alma mater, the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas.
Selected recent experience:
- Volvo Trucks in its defense of the Trucks antitrust litigation in 21 countries across Europe. In Spain the case involved acting across all commercial courts, acting before the Supreme Court in hearings and acting in four requests for preliminary rulings before the Court of Justice of the European Union.
- A leading international energy company in relation to both stand-alone and follow‑on damages claims brought by both transport companies and dealers arising from a resolution of the Spanish Antitrust Authority on vertical restrictions.
- Renault (cars) in its defense in the Cars antitrust litigation in Spain, including the first ever collective action filed in Spain seeking to implement an opt-out remedy for consumers’ damages.
- A leading technological company in the coordination of its Europe‑wide defence of threatened and pending claims in the antitrust space relating to vertical restrictions and abuse of dominance.
- A leading pharmaceutical group and its Spanish subsidiary in relation to stand-alone and follow‑on damages claims by customers and competitors arising from a fine imposed by the Spanish Antitrust Authority.
- A leading pharmaceutical company in several collective and individual claims seeking for damages arising from secondary effects of a drug, including the landmark 2015 Supreme Court Plenary Judgment on statute of limitation and continued damages.
