About Dr. Philipp Roos

Philipp advises clients on all legal matters relating to new technologies, data and media.

He focuses on strategic advice in technology-driven projects, negotiations of all types of IT-related agreements as well as ensuring compliance with the GDPR or other data laws, especially in complex international scenarios. Furthermore, he has wide experience in advising on the protection of social and health data, the regulatory requirements regarding cyber security and all questions related to copyright law.

In parallel to writing his PhD thesis on copyright law, he has worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Information, Telecommunications and Media Law (University of Münster).

Philipp has been seconded to a leading provider of social networks and to our London office. 

Philipp regularly publishes on legal issues surrounding digitalisation and is co-author of standard commentaries on IT and cyber security law.

He speaks German and English.

  • Advising a German vehicle manufacturer on data privacy and IT law (e.g. regarding intra-group data agreements, international data transfers including the Schrems II-decision of the CJEU, research and devolopment projects, processing of vehicle data and the joint venture with an American vehicle manufacturer)
  • Advising a leading provider of social networks on data privacy, media regulatory and copyright law (e.g. on the implementation of a platform-wide joint control agreement and the implementation of the Copyright Directive)
  • Advising a leading operator of a marketplace for short homestays on its global data privacy compliance
  • Advising a leading private equity firm on data privacy laws
  • Advising several healthcare companies on data privacy and IT law
  • Advising a group of vehicle manufacturers on strategic supply, R&D and cooperation agreements (e.g. regarding the supply of lithium-ion batteries, SoCs and the implementation of Connect services)
  • Advising a leading European manufacturer of network components on cyber security laws 
  • Advising international TV stations on media law-related questions
  • Advising a British major label on copyright law
  • Advising in transactions on questions relating to technology and media law (e.g. on the investment of a global investment company in a major German publishing house and leading European hospital operators on the sale/acquisition of several hospitals)
