Emma is a partner in our Dispute Resolution group based in London, and a member of the firm’s financial institutions disputes group and mass claims group.
Emma advises clients in a wide range of complex, multi-jurisdictional commercial and financial services litigation, as well as international corporate and regulatory investigations and enforcement matters.
Emma has particular experience handling large scale multi-party disputes and mass claims, including advising on cross-border litigation strategy. She has acted on some of the leading and largest shareholder litigation and follow-on competition litigation cases in the UK and Europe.
She also has significant experience advising financial institutions and listed companies across the range of disputes and investigations they face, with a deep understanding of the highly regulated environment in which they operate. Emma has a particular interest in FinTech, and advises on contentious matters involving digital assets, AI and other emerging tech.
Emma is a member of the London Solicitors Litigation Committee. She was also previously seconded to one of the firm’s major international banking clients.
- Advising Indivior PLC in its defence of claims brought on behalf of over 100 institutional shareholders under s.90 and s.90A FSMA. The team successfully struck out an attempt to bring the claim as a representative action under CPR 19.1.
- Advising a FTSE 100 retailer in its defence of claims brought by institutional shareholders under s.90A FSMA, as well as related employment claims. The claim was the first mass claim brought under s.90A FSMA.
- Defending a global truck manufacturer in its defence of multi-jurisdictional claims arising out of the trucks-infringement.
- Advising numerous listed companies in relation to internal investigations and regulatory investigations arising out of their regulatory obligations.
- Advising a global financial bank in relation to a cross-border investigation into allegations of trader misconduct in the FX market.
- Acting for a cryptocurrency exchange in High Court proceedings concerning the recovery of digital assets.
- Advising a digital asset provider in relation to a dispute with a contractual counterparty over the development and issuance of a new token.
