About Umberto Parmigiani

Umberto is a senior associate specialised in commercial and corporate litigation as well as in litigation before arbitral tribunals and special jurisdictions.

He assists Italian and multinational companies in both ordinary and arbitration disputes, including emergency proceedings. His expertise covers from contractual liability, tort claims, construction and post M&A claims, to shareholder and real estate disputes, insurance claims, and sanctions. He has also gained specific experience in advising companies in their day-to-day business management.

He also assisted companies operating in the development of climate change mitigation services through forecasting and AI tools.

Previously, he worked for certain international law firms, gaining significant experience in corporate advisory and M&A transactions, along with competition law. Umberto also spent a period as visiting lawyer at the Essex Court Chambers in London, a leading set of barristers’ chambers specialized in international and investment arbitrations.

Italian mother tongue, he speaks English, French and has a basic knowledge of Spanish.

He is member of the Italian Bar and fellow of YAF, YIAG, Young ICCA and AIA - Arbit Below 40.

Recent work

  • Advising the Italian sellers of an M&A transaction in the oil & gas field against a German multinational, in a LCIA international arbitration seated in London.
  • Assisting an Italian real estate developer in a post distressed M&A with a Saudi company, in a ICC international arbitration seated in Paris.
  • Providing assistance to a major French bank in a revocatory action concerning the distraction of the main real estate assets of an investment fund.
  • Assisting a Bahraini engineering firm in a ICC international arbitration dealing with the construction of gas fields and military bases in Africa seated in Paris.
  • Advising a leading player of the corrugated cardboard and boxes market before the national competition authority and in follow-on damage claims for breach of competition law in respect of prices allegedly affected by the anti-competitive conduct.
