An Associate in our International Arbitration Group based in Singapore, Haiyi focuses on complex cross-border commercial disputes and arbitration matters. Haiyi has also advised on a broad range of strategically important and potentially contentious regulatory matters.
Before relocating to Singapore, Haiyi practised from international law firms in Hong Kong and London. The breadth of his experience continues to inform his disputes practice.
Haiyi’s diverse experience also includes studying on a full-ride Japanese government (Monbukagakusho) scholarship in Japan as a student, and subsequently executing internal audit projects across Asia and Europe while based out of Tokyo.
Haiyi is fluent in English, Mandarin Chinese and Japanese.

- Assisting a global energy company in enforcing a SIAC arbitration award in China and negotiating a favourable post-award settlement agreement.
- Developing and reviewing litigation and compliance strategy for a global technology company in response to a landmark piece of legislation introduced in an Asian jurisdiction.
- Advising a global asset manager on disputes and potential SIAC arbitration arising from its investment in the power sector in India, leading to a favourable settlement.
- Advising a Japanese manufacturer on shareholder disputes involving its European joint venture.
- Representing a Chinese tech company in multiple HKIAC arbitrations arising from post-M&A disputes.*
- Representing a publicly traded Chinese industrial company in an HKIAC arbitration arising from its commercial disputes with a European manufacturer.*
- Acting for a UK subsidiary of a Japanese manufacturer in an ICC arbitration arising out of sale of goods contracts.*
- Advising a European media company on an internal investigation of its Chinese portfolio company.*
- Advising liquidators of a global cryptocurrency trading platform on a cross-border liquidation process, including the resolution of actual and potential disputes.*
- Counselling multinational companies on antitrust and regulatory issues arising out of cross-border M&A transactions, and local and global operations.*
