Kristin is a Senior Associate in the commercial dispute resolution group.

Kristin focuses on reputational risks and brand threats, from internal investigations, to regulatory scrutiny and litigation. Kristin frequently advises large, international organisations and professional services firms. She is passionate about environmental, social and governance matters.

Kristin also works with charity partners and advice clinics to provide pro bono legal advice, with a focus on housing insecurity and homelessness issues.

Kristin advises on domestic and multi-jurisdictional disputes, investigations and contentious compliance issues, including:

  • Deutsche Bank in proceedings against Sebastian Holdings Inc. in respect of enforcement action in multiple jurisdictions following Deutsche Bank’s successful claim for around $230m post 2008 financial crisis;
  • a US fintech, WEX Inc, on a landmark dispute arising from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the interpretation of a Material Adverse Effect clause (Travelport Ltd v Wex Inc [2020] EWHC 2670 (Comm));
  • Court-appointed receivers in the BTA Bank / Ablyazov litigation on enforcement actions in numerous jurisdictions seeking the recovery / realisation of assets against the judgment debt amounting to billions of dollars;
  • a large corporate on the defence of equal pay mass claims;
  • corporates and professional services firms in relation to whistleblower allegations regarding various types of individual misconduct and procedural shortcomings, and managing consequential risks arising from that conduct, including regulatory interest and follow on litigation;
  • clients in the extractives sector on allegations of wrongdoing in various jurisdictions, including both internal whistleblower allegations and external multi-jurisdictional regulatory investigations;
  • regulated entities and corporates on governance, compliance and ethics programmes, including freestanding advice and as a result of investigative action;
  • an accounting firm in relation to allegations of financial misstatements in the accounts of one of its clients, including submissions to the foreign criminal and financial regulators and the court;
  • clients on contentious personnel issues, including allegations regarding personal misconduct, handling Data Subject Access Requests as a precursor to litigation, and resolving partnership disputes; and
  • clients with transactional risk management and due diligence, in particular with respect to compliance risk.
