Associate - Antitrust, Competition and Trade, Brussels
Jonas' Story
An International Start
My name is Jonas, I’m a German lawyer working in Freshfields’ Antitrust, Competition and Trade team in Brussels. My journey at Freshfields – and my day-to-day work – reflects the firm’s international character and my own European background.
From Berlin via London to Brussels
After studying in the Netherlands, Sweden, and the UK, I first joined Freshfields in 2015 as a research assistant in the Berlin office. A year later, I moved to London where I started my training contract with Freshfields in 2018 to qualify as a solicitor. In 2019, I relocated to Brussels to complete the final six months of my training contract – and I’ve stayed ever since.
A Truly Global Team
Freshfields – and especially the Brussels office – is a true melting pot of nationalities and cultures, united by a fantastic team spirit.
I collaborate daily with colleagues and clients from across Europe – and often beyond. Many of my colleagues have also become close friends outside of work, and I have felt at home in all the offices and teams in which I have worked so far.
What Makes It Special
It’s this mix of fascinating cases and inspiring people that makes life at Freshfields genuinely special.
