Hello, My name is Jana Serour. I’m a third-year student at Cairo University’s Law department. Knowing how different university studies are from actual work in the legal world, I was keen on doing some internships before graduation. Gratefully, I secured a 2-week work-experience with Freshfields and spent two valuable weeks there.

 My first week was working with the Global Transactions team, and the Disputes Resolution team for the second week.

During my week in Global Transactions, I had the opportunity to shadow the team, observe client communications, and track the progression of deals through various stages. I also conducted research on infrastructure and M&A projects which deepened my understanding of legal and commercial trends across multiple jurisdictions.

Onto my week with the Disputes Resolution team, I explored the legal framework around construction disputes around the region and observed how the team handled ongoing disputes and client interactions. It was a great introduction to cross border dispute work.

The entire experience was enriching and rewarding. I’m especially happy about getting to work in two different departments during my internship. Moreover, the team was incredibly supportive, and the welcoming environment made a big difference.

I am truly honored to have gained hands-on experience of the legal world at Freshfields. My most genuine and sincere thanks to all the team members for their support and kindness.
