Anna's story
I’m Amna Baobaid a graduate from New York University Abu Dhabi, I majored in Legal Studies. I am always looking for opportunities to learn, grow, and gain new experiences, which is what attracted me to the work experience program.
During the two weeks I spent with Freshfields, I had the opportunity to learn more about how an international law firm operates and gain exposure to different areas of the firm.
Throughout the programme, I was introduced to different departments and had the chance to attend meetings with teams such as Marketing and Business Development and Business support. These meetings helped me to understand the different roles within a law firm and how teams outside of legal practice contribute and support its work.
I also worked on legal research tasks. I researched acquisitions and different types of acquisition structures. This gave me the chance to develop my legal research skills and apply some of my knowledge and skills I gained during my Legal Studies degree in a professional setting. Alongside the research task, I completed several e-learning modules and attended training sessions, which helped me learn more about the firm and the professional skills needed when working in a legal environment.
Overall, my two weeks at Freshfields were a valuable experience. I particularly enjoyed meeting people from different teams and learning about their roles and experiences. The programme allowed me to develop my legal skills and gain practical exposure to the legal profession.
