Mark Higgs

Mark Higgs has been Freshfields’ Chief Operating Officer for the UK since December 2019. Based in London, he oversees several teams across London and Manchester, leading a range of strategic initiatives and cross-border projects in collaboration with the firm’s regional COOs. His role focuses on ensuring seamless operational support and driving the ongoing growth and development of the UK practice.
With a background as a leveraged finance lawyer, followed by management consultancy with BCG and strategic legal operations roles in global law firms, Mark brings a wealth of experience to Freshfields. His expertise spans operations, strategy, and legal services, enabling him to deliver innovative solutions and enhance business efficiency.

Mark is currently focused on delivering the three year strategic plan for the UK business, and maintaining an engaging and supportive workplace for business services teams while delivering exceptional support to the firm and its clients. His leadership ensures strong collaboration between the firm’s London, Manchester and other global offices, reinforcing Freshfields’ commitment to operational excellence and client service.
