Global law firm Freshfields has advised IG Group Holdings plc on its $1.3bn acquisition of Underdog Sports Holdings Inc, a US daily fantasy sports and prediction markets operator for a mixture of listed equity and cash, comprising $1.1bn up-front consideration and a $200m earnout.
The Freshfields team was led by London M&A partner Oliver Lazenby and New York M&A partner Steven Li.
The transaction follows the strategic review announced by IG in March 2026, which includes a redomiciliation of IG’s parent company to Jersey, on which Freshfields are also advising. Freshfields also advised IG on its acquisition of Freetrade in 2025.
