Freshfields advises Warburg Pincus on the sale of its majority stake in Singular Bank
Global law firm Freshfields is advising Warburg Pincus on the sale of its majority stake in Singular Bank, a leading independent private bank in Spain, to an ING-led consortium.
Freshfields’ role in advising Warburg Pincus on this sale follows on its role advising Warburg Pincus on its acquisition of Singular Bank in 2018. Following that acquisition Singular Bank has become one of the leading independent Spanish private banks with around €19bn of clients’ assets under management, a national network of 17 branches and approximately 200 financial advisors.
The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals.
The cross-border Freshfields M&A team comprises partner Patrick Ko, senior associate Alex Ryan and associate Charmaine Ho in London, and partner David Franco, counsel Carla Gómez and associate Xabier León in Madrid. London partner James Smethurst supported on regulatory matters whilst Madrid partner Bosco Montejo and senior associate Javier Sánchez advised on tax matters.
