Freshfields advises Fresenius on investment in health tech start-up Avelios Medical
Global law firm Freshfields is advising the multinational healthcare company Fresenius on an investment in the start-up Avelios Medical, which is developing a next-generation, cloud-native hospital information system.
The investment is being made jointly with SAP as part of the strategic partnership announced by Fresenius and SAP in January this year. The objective of the collaboration is to build an open, interoperable, and AI-enabled digital healthcare ecosystem for Germany and Europe. To this end, Fresenius and technology partner SAP are combining clinical expertise, technological capabilities and innovative product development to create a new digital infrastructure for hospitals in Europe.
The Freshfields team, comprising Partners Lars Meyer (Berlin/Frankfurt), Laura Frühauf and Associate Faras Mirhoseiny (both Berlin, all Corporate/M&A), is advising in close cooperation with Fresenius’ in-house team led by Jan Winzen (Head of M&A and Transactions), Vera Burdenski (Legal Project Lead) and Kristina Centner (Senior Legal Counsel IT Law).
