Freshfields advises AngloGold Ashanti on the sale of a gold exploration project in Tolima, Colombia
Global law firm Freshfields is advising AngloGold Ashanti plc, the global gold mining company listed on the New York, Johannesburg and Ghana stock exchanges, on its sale of a 100% interest in a gold exploration project in the Department of Tolima, Colombia to Mineros S.A. through the sale of all the outstanding shares in AngloGold Ashanti Colombia S.A.S.
Mineros is a leading Latin American gold mining company headquartered in Medellín, Colombia and listed on the Colombian and Toronto stock exchanges.
The project is an exploration-stage gold asset located in the Department of Tolima in Colombia, approximately 150km west of Bogotá and 30km west of Ibagué. The transaction is expected to close during Q1 2026, subject to customary conditions. The transaction does not relate to the Quebradona project, which AngloGold Ashanti will continue to develop.
