Freshfields advises Hintco on the import of renewable ammonia

Global law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (‘Freshfields’) has advised Hintco, the entity that implements the H2Global mechanism, on drafting and negotiating the renewable ammonia supply agreements for its first pilot auction, funded by Germany’s Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz, BMWK). The winning bidder, Fertiglobe, will supply Hintco with a total of up to 397.000 tons of renewable ammonia from Egypt from 2027 to 2033. The maximum contract value is €397m.

H2Global accelerates the emergence of markets for clean hydrogen and other low-emission technologies worldwide through a pioneering double-auction mechanism. Fertiglobe, a strategic partnership between energy group ADNOC from UAE and Dutch chemical company OCI, is based in Abu Dhabi and a pioneer in sustainable ammonia.
