Freshfields advises Alpen Glasfaser on its €417.5m financing

Global law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (‘Freshfields’) has advised Alpen Glasfaser GmbH (‘Alpen Glasfaser’) on a €417.5 million infrastructure financing. The financing consists of CAPEX term facilities and a revolving facility which are provided by a syndicate of six major Austrian, German and French banks.

Alpen Glasfaser is a joint venture between Deutsche Telekom subsidiary Magenta Telekom and French private equity company Meridiam – and is Austria’s largest private fibre partnership to date. By 2030, Magenta Telekom and Meridiam intend to jointly invest €1 billion to connect more than 650,000 Austrian households and businesses to high-speed internet (FTTH). Alpen Glasfaser will take care of building the networks, while Magenta Telekom will market the products and services for end customers.

Freshfields advised Alpen Glasfaser on all legal aspects of the financing. The team comprised Partner Frank Laudenklos (Lead), Counsel Alexander Pospisil, Associate Lucas Lengersdorf and Banking Lawyer Aleksandar Djurdjevic (all Finance, Frankfurt). Hedging advice was provided by Counsel Alexander Ruschkowski (Frankfurt).
