Freshfields continues strategic growth with addition of leveraged finance partner

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (‘Freshfields’) today announced that Carol Van der Vorst, a highly experienced leveraged finance lawyer in the private equity market, will join the firm’s leveraged finance team in London as a partner.

Carol joins Freshfields’ world-class financial sponsor offering, which is one of the firm’s core growth areas experiencing increasing client demand.  Carol will advise the firm’s financial sponsor clients on complex cross-border debt financing transactions.

She brings significant experience, having served as a managing director in the debt underwriting group at Goldman Sachs, and more recently as a partner at Ropes & Gray.

Commenting on the appointment, Freshfields’ London transactions head, Andrew Hutchings, said: “We are delighted to welcome Carol to join our leveraged finance team in London. This addition reflects the demand we are seeing from financial sponsors for complex financing solutions and further demonstrates the firm’s commitment to growth in this area.  Carol is well respected for her strong technical and commercial skills and she aligns well to our culture and values.  We look forward to working with Carol, who will join a market leading team underpinned by a strong pipeline of associate talent.”
