Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (‘Freshfields’) has advised General Atlantic on its investment in Modulr, a leading provider of embedded payments to digital businesses across Europe, including Revolut, Wagestream, Sage and Brightpay.

Modulr has raised $108m in series C funding, led by General Atlantic alongside other existing investors including Blenheim Chalcot, Frog Capital, Highland Europe and PayPal Ventures. Modulr intends to use the funding to accelerate its geographic footprint, extending its client and partner coverage in existing and new market verticals across Europe. Modulr currently delivers payments infrastructure for over 200 top-tier customers, processing an annualised transaction value of more than £100bn.

The Freshfields team was led by partner Victoria Sigeti, senior associate Hannah Turton and associate Alex Collins.  Financial regulatory advice was provided by partner Cyrus Pocha and senior associate Claire Harrop.
