Partner Valerie Ford Jacob Recognized as a 2022 Dealmaker of the Year by The American Lawyer

Partner and Global Co-Head of Capital Markets Valerie Ford Jacob has been named a 2022 Dealmaker of the Year by The American Lawyer. She was recognized for her leadership in Freshfields’ representation of Cazoo in the sale of the company to a US SPAC and subsequent NYSE listing.

Valerie led the 50 plus member, cross-border Freshfields team, comprising the firm’s corporate/M&A, capital markets, benefits and compensation, tax, IP and regulatory practices. Of the deal, Valerie told The American Lawyer, “When you have that many shareholders, complexity just is a natural consequence.”

Reacting to the recognition, she said: “The practice of law in a transaction like this is a team sport, so this is an amazing recognition for the whole Freshfields Cazoo team.”
