Freshfields is proud to announce that the firm has been named a finalist for the Minority Corporate Counsel Association’s 2021 Thomas L. Sager Award. The Sager Award finalist and winner distinctions are presented to large law firms (500+ attorneys) that champion a more diverse and inclusive workplace, and that have demonstrated a sustained commitment to improving the hiring, retention and promotion of diverse attorneys. This year’s Sager finalists were selected using another industry benchmark: MCCA’s Diversity Scorecard, which is based on law firm diversity data across hundreds of law firms and across several years. The Scorecard uses an objective, data-driven methodology to rank and score law firms based on assessments of their demographic, recruitment, attrition, and promotion policies for women and diverse groups, particularly those from underrepresented racial and ethnic backgrounds.
Freshfields’ approach to responsible business focuses on our commitment to ethical and responsible working practices, including our environmental impact and becoming a more diverse and inclusive workplace; making a positive contribution to the communities in which we work; and supporting our clients in the transition to a sustainable future through our client sustainability work.
Our new five-year global commitments to diversity and inclusion and targets for gender, race and ethnicity, and LGBTQ+ representation reflect our focus across the firm on action and continuous progress in this area, driven by leadership, accountability and data.
