Amit is a partner on our restructuring and insolvency team and the Co-head of US Financial Restructuring.
Amit has more than 20 years of experience in restructuring and finance, focused on maximizing recoveries in workouts, bankruptcies, and liability management transactions across a full spectrum of industries and financial products, including leveraged and structured finance, asset-based and bilateral lending, commercial real estate and derivatives.
He is sought after for his strong legal and commercial judgment, given his extensive experience as both an attorney and a business principal. This dual perspective allows him to deliver strategic, practical advice to clients navigating complex and challenging market conditions.
Prior to joining Freshfields, Amit was a partner at another leading law firm. Earlier in his career, he held several senior roles at Barclays, including senior workout officer in the Special Asset Management group, lead restructuring lawyer for the United States, and Global Head of Recovery and Resolution Planning for Barclays’ Legal Group.

- Managing Barclays’ exposures in Lumen Tech, (RCF Lender and ad hoc group member in the largest liability management transaction to date), Cineworld Group (first lien agent, arranged rescue and DIP financings), Axip Energy (ABL Lender in a refinancing transaction), GTT Communications (lender in a bankruptcy debt-to-equity), Enviva (first lien agent), Venator (ABL lender and bilateral letter of credit provider), Travelport (participant in uptiering transaction), Unifin Financiera (unsecured term loan agent and lender), Convene (revolving lender), Reverse Mortgage Investment Trust (repo lender to a sponsor-backed mortgage originator), and Western Community Energy (lender in first-ever community choice aggregator bankruptcy).
