Rachel is an associate in Freshfields’ securities and shareholder litigation group, based in New York. Rachel’s practice focuses on securities-related disputes, including shareholder disputes, class actions and fiduciary duty matters. She has experience in an array of complex commercial and securities litigation matters, representing corporate clients in high-stakes cases involving billions of dollars in controversy, as well as advising on regulatory investigations by the SEC, DOJ, and other authorities.
Prior to joining Freshfields, Rachel was an associate for Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP and Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, where she worked on an array of bet-the-company disputes, including mass torts litigation, antitrust disputes, and bankruptcy litigation matters. She also gained in-house experience as a summer legal associate at Morgan Stanley, advising on contractual provisions and compliance issues.
Rachel earned her J.D. from Duke University School of Law, where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Duke Journal of Constitutional Law and Public Policy. She holds a B.A. in Political Economy, with Distinction, from Duke University. Rachel is admitted to practice in New York and the District of Columbia.
Rachel’s prior representations include:
- Litigation arising from a major U.S. wildfire event, representing a leading energy company with multi-state operations.
- A global gaming and entertainment technology provider in complex antitrust matters, including putative class actions in federal court and arbitration proceedings involving monopolization claims.
- A large consumer goods company in litigation stemming from their take-private acquisition.
- The official committee of unsecured creditors in the Chapter 11 case of a leading financial institution, addressing more than $3.4 billion in liabilities.
- An investment fund and its principal in federal securities actions involving alleged short-swing profit violations under Section 16(b) of the Securities Exchange Act.
