Borja is a member of our financial services regulatory team in London and a member of our Global M&A and Capital practice. He advises a wide range of clients on financial services and regulatory matters in both an advisory and transactional context.
Borja's practice spans a wide range of financial services regulatory matters, including stand-alone regulatory advisory work and the regulatory aspects of transactions. His clients include banks, insurers, payment institutions, financial market infrastructures, asset managers and private capital firms. He is dual-qualified in the UK and the EU (Spain).

Borja’s experience includes advising:
- UBS on its acquisition of Credit Suisse and subsequent integration, including the merger of Credit Suisse AG into UBS AG
- A consortium led by Centerbridge on the partial sale of its stake in Canopius Group to Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance
- A leading global investment bank on its arrangements with a clearing house for the provision of investment agency services, including advising on the applicable EMIR, Bank of England and clearing house rulebook requirements
- Lloyd’s of London on various regulatory issues
- London Stock Exchange Group on an investment by 11 global banks into its Post Trade Solutions Business
- Sun Life Financial of Canada on the sale of its UK business to the Phoenix Group
- A leading global asset manager on investment disclosure requirements and restrictions applicable to its global fund structure across more than 80 jurisdictions
- A Middle Eastern sovereign wealth fund on a potential investment into a cryptoasset and stablecoin business
- Various global financial institutions on the implementation of MiFID 2 and their Brexit planning*
