Maria Peterson

Maria is Acting Head of our EU Regulatory & Public Affairs team, bringing over two decades of experience spanning competition law, EU regulatory affairs, and government relations across Brussels, New York, and Tallinn.

She built a distinguished career at the intersection of law, policy, and politics. Most recently, she served as Financial Services Attaché at the Permanent Representation of Estonia to the European Union, acting as a government negotiator on landmark legislation in areas including anti-money laundering, digital and sustainable finance, capital markets, and public procurement.

Maria previously served as Political Advisor to a Member of the European Parliament, advising on energy and digital markets legislation, and led Estonia's Presidency of the Council of the EU in her role as Counsellor for Internal Market at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications.
