With more than 25 years of experience as a private practitioner and regulator across three continents, Alastair helps clients navigate complex regulatory regimes and achieve successful outcomes in both transactional and investigatory matters.
Alastair assists clients before UK, EU and Asian regulators across the full range of competition-related work, including merger control and foreign investment, cartels and abuses of dominance. Alastair co-heads the firm’s foreign investment skills group, whose integrated global approach is regularly called upon by clients to solve their most complex investment regulatory consents across jurisdictions.
Drawing on four years as a senior official at the UK’s competition authority, the Office of Fair Trading, and his roles as non-governmental adviser to both the Hong Kong and UK competition authorities, Alastair consistently helps clients develop effective regulatory strategies.
Alastair is a recognised thought leader and frequent speaker at international conferences on competition and foreign investment law. He has also authored and edited numerous publications on these issues. Alastair is an Officer of the International Bar Association’s Antitrust Section, and a past co-chair of its Mergers Working Group.
