About

Sophie Lacaille is an associate in our Private Funds and Secondaries Practise.

Sophie has experience advising on all aspects of fundraising, as well as setting up managed accounts, employee co-investment vehicles, and structuring carried interest arrangements. Sophie has experience advising first time mid-market managers as well as large sponsors in the capital raising process, including assisting large sponsors with multiple fundraising cycles.

Sophie regularly represents large sovereign wealth fund investors and major institutional investors in relation to complex fund investments and has advised on over 40 LP mandates, primarily with sovereign wealth fund investors.

Sophie has experience in secondaries, acting on behalf of lead investors and syndicate investors in GP-led recapitalisations and on behalf of investors and sponsors in the sale of portfolios of LP interests.

Sophie has a depth of experience across a variety of asset classes and industries and has advised sponsors on fund arrangements in jurisdictions across Luxembourg, Jersey, Cayman Islands and the United Kingdom.

She is part of a network created by Mary Lavelle, “Women in Secondaries”, which now includes over 200 members. Sophie has helped organise several events for the network.

In 2024, Sophie was invited to give a presentation to the UN Net Zero Alliance regarding the evolution of ESG terms in fund documents. In 2025, Sophie gave a lecture to students at the Oxford Said Business School on the state of the secondaries...
