Dr. Verena Kirchmair

Verena is a member of our global IP and technology team, focusing on EU artificial intelligence, technology and platform regulation, and copyright law. She advises clients on product-specific regulatory matters and leads complex pan-European compliance projects. Verena also handles copyright disputes, including proceedings before the Court of Justice of the European Union.

Verena has gained substantial industry experience through client secondments. At a leading technology company, she advised on copyright law and artificial intelligence across both product counsel and litigation counsel capacities; at a major aerospace company, she designed and implemented a comprehensive artificial intelligence compliance programme.

Before joining the firm, Verena worked at the European Commission's International Data Flows and Protection Unit and as a doctoral researcher at the University of Innsbruck. She holds a PhD in data protection law from the University of Innsbruck and an LL.M. in intellectual property law from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She publishes regularly in the fields of IP and technology law.

Verena is fluent in English, German and French.
