Richard is an associate in the firm’s Global Transactions practice in our New York office, where he focuses on complex domestic and cross-border M&A and other corporate and financial transactions. He also regularly advises financial institution clients on investments and related regulatory compliance matters, including issues arising under the Bank Holding Company Act.
Richard began his legal career advising clients on banking and financial markets regulations, including securities clearing, banking, broker-dealer, and FinTech regulatory matters. He has also worked at a global bank supporting its U.S. Treasuries lending desk.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Richard spent nearly a decade in the financial services industry, across investment banking at Piper Sandler (f.k.a. Sandler O’Neill & Partners) and corporate development and strategy positions at Deutsche Bank and Guggenheim Partners.
Richard is a native speaker of both Korean and English.

- The acquisition of Onum Adapative Shield;
- The acquisition of Pangea.cloud; and
- The acquisition of SGNL.AI.
- Alphabet and Isomorphic Labs on Isomorphic’s Series A round of $600 million, and Series B round of $2.1 billion.
- Alphabet on Verily Health’s $300 million investment round led by Series X Capital and related deconsolidation transactions by Alphabet.
- Advising banking organizations on section 4(c)(6) investments in non-bank and fintech companies.
- Amundi Asset Management on its strategic partnership with Victory Capital, resulting in 26.1% stake in Victory Capital in exchange for Amundi’s U.S. onshore platform.
- MIAX Holding on its acquisition of LedgerX in connection with bankruptcy proceedings of FTX Trading and its debtors.
