About
Guillermo is an associate in our Antitrust, Competition and Trade group in Madrid. He advises clients on Spanish and EU competition law, with a particular focus on antitrust investigations, litigation and merger control. He also advises on foreign investment control and the EU Foreign Subsidies Regulation.
His experience includes representing national and multinational companies before the European Commission, the Spanish Competition Authority (CNMC) and Spanish courts. His track record spans a wide range of sectors, including digital infrastructure and mobile applications, financial services, life sciences, real estate, energy infrastructure and telecommunications. Before joining Freshfields, Guillermo worked at a leading Spanish law firm for more than three years, advising clients on competition investigations, litigation and merger control matters across similarly diverse sectors.
Since 2024, Guillermo has been a visiting professor of EU Internal Market Law at Universidad CEU San Pablo. He is fluent in Spanish, English and French.

- Representing a global tech company in antitrust investigations before the CNMC and related litigation before Spanish courts.
- Advising a leading provider of digital services to the real estate sector in an antitrust investigation before the Portuguese Competition Authority.
- Representing an international renewable energy infrastructure investor on the merger control aspects of its acquisition of a portfolio of photovoltaic assets in Spain.
- Advising CrowdStrike on the multijurisdictional merger control analysis relating to its acquisition of Onum, a pioneer in real-time telemetry pipeline management.
