Cindy Gao

Cindy Gao is an Associate in Freshfields' New York office whose practice focuses on international trade, regulatory compliance, and investigations. Cindy works with multinational companies to navigate complex regulatory frameworks and compliance challenges associated with global business operations, including advising a leading artificial intelligence company on evolving regulatory requirements and governance issues and counseling clients on US economic sanctions, export and trade controls, the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and anti-money laundering laws. She also counsels major technology companies on online safety and child protection measures, as well as data breach investigations, cybersecurity incidents, and related compliance obligations.

Cindy earned her J.D. from Vanderbilt Law School and received her B.A. from the University of Michigan in Biopsychology, Cognition and Neuroscience (BCN), and Sociology.
