About
Madeline Freeman is an associate in Freshfields’ Dispute Resolution practice in New York. She specializes in high-stakes investigations, crisis risk management, and complex regulatory matters, advising clients across a broad range of industries as they navigate sensitive legal challenges.
Before joining Freshfields, Madeline gained significant investigative and litigation experience as a legal analyst at a New York litigation boutique. Her unique perspective is further informed by her two-year internship with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), where she analyzed violent crime trends in Philadelphia and assisted with criminal trial preparation.
Madeline earned her J.D. from Boston University School of Law, where she served as a Diversity & Inclusion Editor for the Boston University Law Review. During her time at BU, she gained significant experience supporting survivors of human trafficking as a student attorney and legal assistant for the Immigrants' Rights & Human Trafficking Clinic. Madeline also holds a Master of Science in Criminology and a B.A. in Criminology and Psychology, both from the University of Pennsylvania.
Madeline’s experience at Freshfields includes representing and advising clients across a range of high-stakes investigations, including:
- A multinational financial institution in a congressional inquiry into alleged support for forced labor in China;
- A public US-based technology company in connection with a parallel SEC/SDNY securities fraud investigation related to public statements made about the operations of the platform, which resulted in no charges against the company.
