Katharina is Counsel specialising in restructuring and insolvency.
Katharina is co-editor of Panoramic Restructuring & Insolvency (formerly known as Getting The Deal Through), a member of the Insolvency Lawyers’ Association Technical Committee and sits on the Lexis PSL R&I Focus Group and the Practice Committee for From Counsel’s restructuring section. Katharina is co-chair of the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC) UNCITRAL committee and past chair of the IWIRC London network. She is a contributing editor for International Corporate Rescue.
In this session, Katharina will examine the UK restructuring regime within the context of an evolving global insolvency and restructuring landscape. The session will explore the role of judicial discretion and the increasing significance of forum shopping in cross-border restructurings. It will also address key practical challenges and recent developments relating to the UK Restructuring Plan, with particular focus on the fairness principles applied by courts when sanctioning such plans. The masterclass will further consider strategic approaches to jurisdictional choice, the importance of a company’s centre of main interests (COMI), and emerging trends in multi-jurisdictional restructuring cases, offering insights into both the opportunities and risks facing businesses in this dynamic area of law.
