Charlotte is an associate in our Private Funds and Secondaries group.
Charlotte has experience advising a broad range of private capital clients on all aspects of fundraising and fund formation, which includes advising first time mid-market sponsors and those with a focus on the impact space.
Charlotte has regularly represented sovereign wealth fund investors, fund-of-funds, pension funds and other major financial institutions in relation to complex fund investments, restructurings and co-investments.
Charlotte has experience in secondaries, and has worked on multiple fund portfolio sales as well as GP-led transactions/continuation fund transactions.
Charlotte has a depth of experience across a variety of asset classes and industries and has worked on cross-border transactions spanning jurisdictions such as Luxembourg, Jersey, Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom.
She is part of a network created by Mary Lavelle, “Women in Secondaries”, which now includes over 200 members.
Prior to working at Freshfields, Charlotte worked in the secondaries practice of a US law firm in London.
Charlotte's recent experience includes advising for:
- A first-time European manager on the establishment, formation and fundraising of their flagship fund.
- A fund-of-funds on their acquisition of a portfolio of fund interests.
- A pension fund on their acquisition of a portfolio of freehold residential assets.
- One of the most active sovereign wealth investors in private equity, regularly representing them on a range of their private equity investments.
- A German family office, regularly representing them on a range of their investments.
- An infrastructure investment bank, on its equity co-investment in an electric vehicle business in India.
- An impact fund manager on the establishment, formation, fundraising and closing of its second fund.
- A major bank on their co-investment into a smart energy business.
- A European financial services group on the distribution of a Luxembourg feeder fund.
- An Australian retirement trust, on the complex restructuring of their investments in the European healthcare real estate sector.
