About
Elena is a Partner in our data and technology practice group. She advises on strategic data and tech projects and is at the forefront of regulatory issues relating to data and privacy. Her practice has a particular focus on emerging EU digital regulation, including the EU Data Act, the Digital Markets Act and the AI Act, helping clients navigate complex regulatory frameworks and implement innovative digital products and services.
In addition, Elena advises on general data privacy compliance, focusing in particular on the design and rolling out of digital services, digital products and any innovation-related projects. She regularly advises clients on AI governance frameworks, the deployment of AI systems, including the use of large language models (LLMs).
Part of her expertise is also to help companies deal with global data and cyber breaches and (related) data litigation. Her experience includes negotiating with data protection authorities as well as intervening before courts, especially with regards to GDPR (fine) proceedings. She also advises on telecommunications and competition law where they intersect with data protection.
Elena was temporary working for Freshfields in New York, London, Brussels and Silicon Valley.
She speaks German, English and Russian. Elena co-heads our Female Talent for Tech initiative.

Elena advises organisations, particularly leading technology companies. Elena’s experience includes:
- Advising a global smartphone manufacturer on a project to prepare its products and services for compliance with the new EU Data Act, including a comprehensive gap analysis and an assessment of changes to product design.
- Advising a major smartphone manufacturer on the EU AI Act and AI-related matters.
- Advising a global automotive company on its data strategy for implementing the forthcoming EU Data Act and on the approval of a GDPR code of conduct for connected and autonomous vehicle features.
- Advising a US software company on compliance with the EU Data Act.
- Advising a global automotive company on a large-scale internal data protection project relating to the EU legal framework for data protection, including the GDPR.
- Advising an AI-native networking platform on compliance with the EU Data Act and the AI Act, as well as compliance with other EU digital and cybersecurity regulations.
- Advising a multinational conglomerate on various aspects of data protection compliance and data privacy.
- Advising a global insurance company on AI governance and the use of third-party large language models (LLMs).
