John Blain

John works with clients in the consumer, retail, healthcare and industrial sectors through all stages of the product life-cycle.

He regularly handles commercial disputes and product liability litigation, which are often multiparty and multijurisdictional matters. He also advises on the associated regulatory risks, including product safety recalls and crisis management.

John has worked in the firm’s Hong Kong office and is adept at using our network of other firms to manage cross-border teams on international litigation or regulatory issues. He has also enjoyed spells seconded to clients, including Monitor, where he set up Foundation Trust Hospitals in the UK, and the Football Association, where he was legal adviser. With all this experience, John understands what the client needs for the job to be completed efficiently and effectively.

John joined the firm in 1992 and became a partner in 2004. He is co-head of our environment, products and regulatory group.
