About
Lea Babucke is a Principal Associate in our White-Collar Defence and Global Investigations group.
She advises and defends companies and individuals across the full spectrum of white-collar and tax criminal law, with a particular focus on internal and cross-border investigations. Having spent 1.5 years working in Freshfields' New York office, Lea has extensive experience handling multi-jurisdictional investigations and navigating the complexities of cross-border proceedings, including engagement with US authorities.
Her core areas of focus include money-laundering criminal law and tax criminal law, as well as conducting internal investigations, including matters involving workplace misconduct, such as allegations of MeToo-related misconduct. She also advises companies on risk and crisis management, in particular in connection with comprehensive data requests from authorities and parliamentary committees of inquiry, as well as accompanying dawn raids and search measures.
Alongside her advisory practice, Lea is a lecturer at the University of Trier and a member of the Internal Security Committee ("Ausschuss Innere Sicherheit") of the German Bar Association (DAV). She publishes regularly on white-collar crime and compliance topics and is co-editor of a journal on legal psychology.
