Charlotte is a regulatory and risk expert specialising in environment, climate and energy law. She advises across a broad range of sectors, supporting clients to deliver their projects and comply with developing legal frameworks.
Charlotte has extensive experience advising on emerging environmental and sustainability legal frameworks, including guiding clients on developing regimes as they take shape. Her advisory work spans corporate governance and operational and strategic risk management across multiple sectors.
She has advised on a variety energy and major infrastructure projects, including nuclear, renewable energy and road, rail and port projects. She also provides environment and planning advice in support of corporate and real estate transactions across a range of industries.
Environment and Energy related transactions:
- EDF on its further investment in the Sizewell C nuclear project, including advising on governance, regulatory and supply chain matters
- TotalEnergies on environmental and energy regulatory aspects of its investment into EPH’s flexible power generation assets, with a JV enterprise value of EURO10.6bn
- Suzano on EHS and operational risk aspects of its $3.4bn international tissue joint venture with Kimberly-Clark
- Saint-Gobain on environmental, product and supply chain aspects of its $1bn acquisition of Fosroc, a leading global construction chemicals business
- EQUANS in relation to the environmental matters in the sale of its UK district heating business
- CVC Capital Partners on environmental aspects of its $925m acquisition of Therakos from global speciality pharma company Mallinckrodt
Risk advisory, compliance and governance:
- A variety of multinationals (public and private) across many sectors and financial institutions on climate and sustainability reporting and disclosure obligations (especially in relation to the EU’s and UK’s sustainable finance regimes), voluntary mechanisms and sustainability strategies, goals and marketing
- Several global consumer goods businesses on supply chain, human rights and ESG compliance and legal risks, with a focus on issues such as responding to the EU CSDDD regime
- A sovereign wealth fund on responding to a serious incident and related human rights risks concerning African mining investment
