Ally is a senior associate in our antitrust, competition and trade practice, based in Washington, DC. She helps clients navigate the antitrust components of mergers and acquisitions and investigations by the US Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Trade Commission (FTC). She has worked with clients across a broad array of industries including pharmaceutical and life sciences, technology, and agriculture.
Ally completed a client secondment at Google on the Competition Advisory team, where she gained valuable insight into in-house decision-making, cross-functional collaboration, and the practical application of antitrust risk management within a global business.
Prior to joining Freshfields, Ally worked at a national law firm advising multinational client seeking regulatory approval across numerous jurisdictions, including the United States, United Kingdom, and European Union. Before attending law school, Ally worked as a paralegal specialist at the DOJ, Antitrust Division in the Healthcare and Consumer Products; Media, Entertainment, and Communications; and Technology and Digital Platforms sections.
Ally’s experience includes advising:
- Uber in its attempted $950m acquisition of Delivery Hero’s foodpanda Delivery Business in Taiwan and $300m investment in Delivery Hero.
- Hewlett Packard Enterprise in its $14bn acquisition of Juniper Networks, Inc.
- Viterra Limited, together with certain affiliates of Glencore PLC, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and British Columbia Investment Management Corporation, in the multi-billion-dollar merger with Bunge Limited.
- Roivant Sciences on its $7.1bn sale of Telavant to a pharmaceutical company.
- PhenomeX, a functional cell biology company, on its $108m sale to Bruker Corporation.
- Microsoft in its $68.7bn acquisition of video game publisher, Activision Blizzard.*
- Booking Holdings in its $1.2bn acquisition of Getaroom and in its proposed €1.63bn acquisition of Etraveli Group, a global flight booking provider, from private equity firm CVC Capital Partners.*
