Ziqi advises clients on a wide range of competition law and foreign investment review matters, including cross-border M&A, joint ventures, antitrust compliance and investigations. Her practice focuses on advising global clients in their engagement with regulators in China, Hong Kong, and the broader Asia-Pacific region, as well as supporting Asia-based clients in their outbound investments into the global markets. She has recently worked with clients in technology, telecommunications, life sciences, financial services, real estate, automotive, aviation and other sectors.
Ziqi graduated from Tsinghua University with a degree in Bachelor of Laws and minor in Economics.
Ziqi is admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales and has passed the PRC bar exam. She speaks fluent English and Mandarin.
Merger control and foreign investment review
- Advising China Mobile Hong Kong on the Hong Kong Communications Authority’s review of its takeover offer to acquire HKBN, merging the largest mobile network service provider and the second largest fixed network service provider in Hong Kong.
- Advising HPE on the global merger control aspects of its USD 14 billion acquisition of Juniper Networks.
- Advising UBS on fast-tracked regulatory engagements in the Asia-Pacific region tailored to the procedural nuances of each jurisdiction involved in its acquisition of Credit Suisse.
- Advising Korean Air across the Asia-Pacific region on strategic merger control and regulatory aspects of its KRW 1.8 trillion (approximately USD 1.51 billion) acquisition of Asiana, merging the two largest airlines in South Korea. This matter won Merger Control Matter of the Year for the Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa region at the GCR Awards in 2023 and 2025, respectively.
- ESR on the global merger control and foreign investment aspect of its privatisation from the Hong Kong Stock Exchange by a consortium led by Starwood Capital Group, Sixth Street and SSW Partners by way of scheme of arrangement.
- Volkswagen on the global merger control, foreign investment and antitrust compliance aspects of its EUR 2.4 billion investment in and cooperation with Horizon Robotics
- A number of private equity clients on the global merger control and foreign investment aspects of their investment transactions.

- Advising a global platform company on overall strategy in response to the Taiwan Fair Trade Commission’s market survey into digital markets, as well as other antitrust compliance and related matters in the Asia-Pacific region.
- Advising two global airlines on the antitrust aspects of their metal-neutral cooperation covering routes across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
- Advising a global industrial manufacturing company on its compliance audit in Southeast Asia.
